ASNC Board Openings - due to resignations
Missing Puzzle Pieces. . . (ASNC)
The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council, a Los Angeles City-certified advisory group for five neighboring Northeast communities is still "missing" some key pieces in it's current board, due to recent resignations.
This may be your opportunity to serve your community, advise local government, and help determine how to spend up City tax dollars to improve the quality of life in our region -- if you are a stakeholder* in Sycamore Grove, Montecito Heights, Monterey Hills, Hermon, or Mount Washington.
No previous community organizing experience required, learn as you help represent and work with your neighbors, along with the other 18 dedicated ASNC representatives. New board members appointed to fill these two vacancies will hold their positions though Summer 2010:
-- AT-LARGE Healthcare and Seniors Representative
-- SYCAMORE GROVE Geographic Rep. (representing more than 4,000 stakeholders within the approximate area surrounding Figueroa Street between Mount Washington and Montecito Heights; see ASNC Bylaws - Article XII, for exact boundaries) |
For more information about these positions, and a full map of ASNC boundaries, see www.asnc.us (this website).
All candidates for these openings must be valid stakeholders of the ASNC area, The geographic representative needs to be a stakeholder of the Sycamore Grove community. An at-large position can be held by a stakeholder from any of the five ASNC communities.
Candidates will be asked to provide some proof of stakeholder status. Deadline for submissions is currently Friday, May 22, unless extended by board action at its next meeting.
Assuming there are valid candidates for these positions, the ASNC board may appoint replacements under its standing rules for one or both of the available seats at the next scheduled monthly meeting, Monday, June 1 [NOTE CHANGE OF DATE] at the Jack & Denny Smith Library and Community Center at Mount Washington Elementary School.
All interested persons should contact the ASNC (see following), to receive forms and provide a 100-word statement, which will be distributed via e-mail and on the ASNC website. Candidates will also be asked to speak to the board and be considered for appointment during the April meeting.
