The Community Beautification Grant was created in 1998 in the City of Los Angeles under the name Neighborhood Matching Fund as a way for community members to shape their neighborhoods. In partnership with hundreds of neighborhood groups, the CB Grant program has COMPLETED OVER 850 community-based projects and helped spark many of the revitalization efforts happening citywide.
The CB Grant is an annual grant. The funding cycle lasts from July through October. Currently, the 2008 – 09 Application and Guidelines is available for groups to submit proposals. The due date for submitting the application is October 22, 2008.
For 2008 – 09, the CB Grant program will award approximately $600,000 in grants which will be enough to fund 65 projects or more.
Come to one of the 15 Grant Orientation Workshops that have been scheduled citywide. At the workshops, CB Grant staff will give a multimedia presentation about the grant process, explain how to fill out the application, offer tips about submitting a competitive proposal, and show pictures of completed projects. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people along with the Community Beautification Grant staff.
