Review of the Outreach Event: "Magic on Mount Washington"

ASNC Thanks .. to TRADER JOE'S:

The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council Outreach Committee would like to extend a big thank you to TRADER JOE'S in Eagle Rock for their very generous support at our recent screening of the new Documentary film “SURFWISE” directed by Mt. Washington resident Doug Pray. The event, at the Jack and Denny Smith Multipurpose Room at Mt. Washington Elementary School on San Rafael Ave, was attended by about 120 people from our community, and an excellent time was had by all.

We served a home cooked North African/ Middle Eastern style meal of Chicken Tagine, Cous-cous, Hummus with Pita and a delicious Fatoush Salad, followed by a mountain of fresh Pineapple. Delicious fruit drinks and waters were also offered.

ALL OF THE GROCERIES FOR THIS FEAST WERE DONATED BY TRADER JOE'S, and the guests were terribly impressed with their generosity.

Here's the original Invitation to attend the Outreach Event:

-- Manohla Dargis, The New York Times

"If you mix The Endless Summer with Grey Gardens, adding healthy dashes of The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family, you might get Surfwise, Doug Pray's engrossing and inspiring, yet cautionary documentary."
-- Paper Magazine

"Surfwise, in its wisdom, shows how binding, as well as blinding, family ties can be."
-- Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal
