~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils / LADWP March 25, 2008 THANK YOU, THANK YOU Dear Colleagues, Thank you, thank you to the 40 plus Neighborhood Council people who came to support and participate at today's City Council's "Decision Meeting". Special recognition to those of you who were behind the scenes encouraging OSC members to come to the Council and following up on the IEA Resolution, sending the implementation of the Resolution to the Councilmember and working on that character restrictive CIS. You did well. Together we did better. As you may know, what was suppose to have been an hour of slam dunk rhetoric, turned out to be three and a half hours of full blown negotiations, questions and answers and actual attempts to resolve some of our concerns while not bending over for DWP's demands. NO DECISION WAS MADE TO RAISE THE RATES. All Councilmembers present, BUT ONE, voted to carry the decision over one more week. There were too many unanswered questions and a pending water litigation decision. Wednesday 26th is the Court date. Expect to receive another invitation to come to City Hall on April 2nd, 10:00 AM. BE AWARE THAT BUT FOR THE 40 MEMBERS AND STAKEHOLDERS PRESENT, IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SLAM DUNK. WHAT COMES OUT IN APRIL WILL DEPEND ON US.
