Advance notice of special election at Feb. ASNC meeting (2/25)
At it's January meeting, the board of the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council (ASNC) voted to fill one of two short-term vacancies among the representatives for the community of Mt. Washington. These vacancies were created by resignations of held-over board members pending the final outcome of a required re-vote of one portion of the November 2007 general election.
The board also approved offering the one interim seat on the board to Mount Washington stakeholder Hank Schaeffer who received the highest number of votes for one of the two open geographic representative positions in November. Mr. Schaeffer has accepted, with the understanding that the final outcome of the re-vote will determine which of the four original candidates takes these seats for the balance of the 2-year term.
This interim appointment by the board constitutes a "special election" based on ASNC election rules and related practices, and will be finalized as part of board's February 2008 meeting.
The second vacancy for a Mount Washington geographic representative will remain open until the final outcome of the re-vote being required by the City of L.A. (now proposed for March 24, 2008, but pending approval of the city's Dept. of Neighborhood Empowerment) .
More details, and the meeting location, will follow.
