The Hermon Emergency Preparedness Committee is please to announce that our Hermon Emergency Preparedness Plan is now on-line! Please go to www.hermon.org and click on the "emergency preparedness" link on the right side! Check out our new Hermon Neighborhood Zone Map and see what zone you live in. Or check out the Hermon Seismic Map to see if your home lies in a liquefaction or landslide zone. All of the details are still being generated and will be posted by mid 2008. The Hermon Emergency Preparedness Committee was formed in 2006 by volunteers with the goal of generating a grass-roots Emergency Preparedness Plan for all Hermon residents in case of a disaster. Throughout 2008, the committee will be hosting several important meetings to organize and train neighborhood captains and assistants, finalize emergency preparedness plans, and solicit help for obtaining emergency supplies. Meetings are held monthly on the 3rd Tuesdays at the Fellowship Center, Hermon Community Church, 5800 Monterey Rd, Hermon 90042 (entrance on Wheeling Way). Our next meeting (open to all interested) will be on Tuesday, February 19th from 7:00-9:00pm. Our interesting Guest Speaker this month is the LAFD Disaster Preparedness Unit. They will be speaking to us promptly at 7pm about their CERT training course as well as provide vital preparedness information for families and community. If you're interested in emergency preparedness and/or would like to join our committee and/or become a neighborhood captain, please contact Mark at 323.823.3046. |
