Why be an American "Idle" when you might help improve the local
quality of life?
Last call to fill one remaining "cast" spot in the Northeast's own
chapter of L.A.'s long-running reality show, "NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL" --
an opportunity to help advise city government about local issues and
constituent services. Start this summer as a new, fill-in "performer"
and perhaps by next season be your neighborhood' s STAR producer of
improvements and solutions. No previous activist experience required,
learn as you help represent and work with your neighbors.
You'd rather DIRECT? Neighborhood council representatives are able to
work with their own local constituencies to chair committees and plan
and push through all types of BLOCKBUSTER community projects.
One last fill-in needed for key role (3 were named last month, so
we're all learning together).
For SEASON 4 of ASNC "Neighborhood Council" (though Jan. 2008):
-- AT-LARGE Community Non-Profits Representative --
For more information about this position, and a map of ASNC
boundaries, see www.asnc.us
If your fellow stakeholders in Mount Washington, Sycamore Grove,
Monterey Hills, Montecito Heights, and Hermon appreciate your 5-month,
fill-in performance -- you just might be signed for another full year.
All candidates for these openings must be valid stakeholders of the
ASNC area, (live, work, own property, or are a parent or guardian of a
student attending ASNC area schools, or the designated representative
of a business or organization within the ASNC boundaries). At large
positions can be held by a stakeholder from any of the five ASNC communities.
Candidates will be asked to provide some proof of stakeholder status.
Deadline for submissions is Monday, August 20.
Assuming there are valid candidates for this position, the ASNC board
may appoint a replacement under its standing rules for open positions
at the next scheduled meeting, August 27, 2007, 7 p.m., at the Jack &
Denny Smith Library and Community Center at Mt. Washington Elementary
School.
All interested persons should contact the ASNC (see following), to
receive forms and provide a 100-word statement, which will be
distributed via email and on the ASNC website. Any candidate(s) will
also be featured in a CLOSE-UP at the August ASNC board meeting.
