Board of Neighborhood Commissioners
Information Bulletin No. 1

The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (BONC) is pleased to
introduce this informative bulletin as a means to share current news
and activities with the DONE, Neighborhood Councils and
stakeholders. We seek your input and participation.
Recent Board actions include the adoption of a Vision Statement,
amendment of the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners Operating
Policies and Procedures, Article IV, Commission Statement on Policy
Development and preliminary reports for discussion from the newly
formed BONC ad hoc committees. Copies of these documents are
available on the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment' s website at
lacityneighborhoods .com.
We always welcome your input and your public comments in person, via
email and in writing. Please submit written materials to the
Commission Executive Assistant, Bianca Vite or more importantly, join
us at a future meeting. The
Board of Neighborhood Commission meetings are held in the evening on
a rotating basis to all parts of the City so that all stakeholders
have an opportunity
to attend.
We invite you to read about Neighborhood Council Best Practices on
the website. We are proud to share the successes of so many of the
NC's in our great city and know that they will provide you with
inspiration. Several NC's in formation will seek certification soon
and we will welcome them into the growing NC family as they become
certified.
A series of powerful Empowerment Academy classes are continuously
offered at no cost to assist your members and stakeholders increase
skills and knowledge and we urge your attendance whenever possible.
We have received rave reviews from those who have taken these new
