| Contact Information Neighborhood Council: Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council Impact Information Date: 01/24/2007 Update to a Previous Input: No Directed To: City Council and Committees Reference Number: 07-0049 Agenda Date: 01/10/2007 Item Number: Brief Summary: The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council commends city councilmembers' efforts to have certified neighborhood councils review their first five years of work, reporting to BONC as the certifying authority. ASNC further recommends that whereas neighborhood councils were created to be advisory boards to city government, that city councilmembers and their staff also be responsible for reporting on the effectiveness of our boards in working with them on local concerns. The ASNC -- one of more than 50 councils certified in 2002 -- will establish a review process of its own, regardless of the disposition of this council file. Additional Information: By separate motion, the ASNC approved the formation of the following: ". . . a 5-year review task group to prepare a cumulative report for stakeholders, and potentially for the [Board of Neighborhood Commissioners' ] review. This ad hoc group would consist of six members to be appointed by the council president, to include two current board members, two past board members, and two other registered stakeholders who have never served on the board. The group would report its progress to the board every other month until work is completed, but no later than the regular board meeting for September 2007." |
