1. Approval of minutes from meetings of June 2007 – Maggie Barto, Secretary
2.

Fill current board vacancies -- Candidates are:

  a. J. Michael Walker ( Montecito Heights ) - candidate for Recreation, Culture, and the Arts At Large Representative
  b. Sylvia Robledo – candidate for Sycamore Grove Geographic Representative
  c. * Darlene Roker – candidate for Monterey Hills Geographic Representative
  d. Jeremy Dillard – candidate for Monterey Hills Geographic Represntative
  e. Sara I. Lopez – candidate for Monterey Hills Geographic Representative
    * Note: In order to accept the Monterey Hills Rep. position, Darlene Roker would need to resign as Healthcare & Seniors At Large Representative (presumably, if elected as a regional).
3. Treasurer's report – Pat Griffith
 

a.

Motion to amend the newly approved budget to move $350 per quarter from Community Projects to Other Meeting Expense to cover our expected Admin Asst. & Secretarial expenses. – Pat Griffith, Chair – Budget & Finance
4. Name new liaison for Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition
5.

Request from Friends of Hermon Dog Park for $925 to cover the following at dog adoption event in October:

  a. $600 for canopy rental to shade the dogs up for adoption
  b.

$125 for billboard paper and ink (the cost of billboard rental is free for one month)

  c. $200 for Newswire Service which goes to over 60 outlets including newspaper, radio, television and websites.
6. Request from Ida Simms and Sara Lopez for $5000 for Support for the 2007 Monterey Hills Jazz Festival
7. The ASNC should oppose the granting of a liquor sales permit for a convenience store planned for 5526 Monterey Road , formerly Acoustic Blend market, in Hermon. (from Hermon Local Issues meeting of 7/12)
8.

Request for letter of support from business owner Omar Mata and business partner Nickolas Mata. They plan on opening an upscale coffee house and grocery store in Hermon.

9. From Mount Washington Local Issues (Requested by Paula Sirola), the ASNC should:
 

a.

Sponsor a repeat of last year's outreach activity "Pizza in the Park" for the August 15th Mt. W. LI meeting.  The amount will include pizza, drinks, picnic materials, and publicity
10.

From Mount Washington Local Issues (Requested by Jerry Schneider), the ASNC should:

  a. Discuss and prepare a resolution calling for improved funding for public transportation and forward it to the Congress of Neighborhood Councils for support.
  b. Request that the City study and present options for improving pedestrian safety for crossing San Rafael Avenue in the vicinity of Sea View Drive, including a marked crosswalk at this location.
  c.

Request that the City study and present options for improving the drainage at the intersection of San Rafael Avenue and Glenalbyn Drive.

From Montecito Heights Local Issues (Requested by Scott Rubel and Jack Fenn), the ASNC should:

  a. “The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council asks the Department of Recreation and Parks to repair the boundary fences and gates of Debs Park to preclude passage of motorized vehicles.” Brought on behalf of the Montecito Heights Local Issues Committee by Scott Rubel and Jack Fenn.
  b.

“The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council asks that the City replace chain link fencing on the Avenue 43 bridge over the Arroyo Seco Parkway with a decorative fence in keeping with the cultural, historical, and natural importance of the area.” Brought on behalf of the Montecito Heights Local Issues Committee by Scott Rubel and Jack Fenn.

  c. “The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council shall write a letter in support of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority in their efforts to protect the open space in the hilltops of Northeast Los Angeles by seeking willing sellers at fair-market prices.”

Process for Reconsideration - The Board may reconsider and amend its actions on items listed on the agenda in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order.

The public is requested to fill out a “ Speaker Card ” to address the Board on any item of the agenda prior to the Board taking action on an item. Comments from the public on Agenda items will be heard only when the respective item is being considered. Comments from the public on other matters not appearing on the Agenda that is within the Board's subject matter jurisdiction will be heard during the Public Comment period. Public comment is limited to 2 minutes per speaker, unless waived by the presiding officer of the Board.
