NEW APRIL 2007 NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL/LADWP MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

The new April 2007 Neighborhood Council/LADWP 5-Year MOU has been approved by the LADWP Board of Commissioners and is currently in effect.  The MOU will be scheduled before the City Council Education and Neighborhoods, and Energy and Environment Committees, as well as the full City Council, for information and filing only.  No further action is required by those bodies.

LADWP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REVIEW OF 2007-2008 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET

LADWP is currently providing the Board of Water and Power Commissioners with the 2007-2008 fiscal year proposed budget presentations as part of a detailed and intensive public review process.

The budget review process will include a series of five LADWP Board budget workshops conducted weekly in May, including a presentation of the Department's Financial Plan and Rate Restructuring Proposal on May 15.

These Special Meeting workshops, to be held at the LADWP John Ferraro Building, located at 111 N. Hope Street, in Room 1555-H, will be scheduled as follows:

• Tuesday May 8, 2007: -- Jointly Funded Budget Presentation
      9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Thursday May 10, 2007: -- Power Reliability Program Budget Presentation
      12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Tuesday May 15, 2007: -- Financial Plan and Rate Restructuring Presentation -- Note: This budget item will be part of the regular Board Meeting Agenda.  The Board meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  As the date nears, more current information, including the meeting agenda, will be posted at the Board office webpage at:

• Saturday May 19, 2007: -- Power System Budget Presentation
     9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

LADWP INVITES NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS TO ATTEND THE 2007 LINEMAN'S RODEO

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and I.B.E.W. Local 18 welcome the Neighborhood Councils to attend the 2007 Los Angeles Lineman's Rodeo on Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the LADWP Power Distribution Training Center, 11760 Truesdale Street, Sun Valley, CA 91352, off Glenoaks Boulevard between Sheldon and Branford Streets.

The Lineman's Rodeo is a competition where teams of journeyman and apprentice electrical distribution mechanics, from LADWP and  other utilities, exhibit their skills and knowledge in events based on tasks that are routinely performed everyday in the course of their difficult work. 

Two canopy booths will be reserved for NC attendees to relax and socialize between viewing events.  The booths will be located next to the LADWP main exhibit booth.  Food and refreshments will be available.  Bring your camera!
